Cannabis company Aphria Inc. is just as concerned with promoting overall wellness as it is building its cannabis business. Understanding that there are benefits available from all types of plants for the promotion of improved well-being, Aphria has launched its “Plant Positivity” program, designed to “bring the power of plants to everyone.” The initiative raises awareness of plants, in general, and their value to improving overall health.
Plant Positivity provides a range of activity that is meant to have social impact and improve access to plants by everyone. The platform offers education on different plants and how they enhance wellness, as well as how to properly care for them. There is also a podcast, created in conjunction with Evergreen, which offers a “self-guided audio tour through the Plant Positivity Gardens at Evergreen Brick Works.” Evergreen is an environment-focused company out of Canada that helps cities introduce sustainable urban ecosystems that promote better health.
The platform, in January of this year, also launched its own Winter Garden. It is described as a “pop-up greenhouse” with a 30-foot tunnel lined with live winter plants. Tamara Macgregor, Aphria’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, said when Winter Garden went live, “With shorter days, colder weather, holiday bills rolling in and back to work routines, our general well-being may be affected. And while most people recognize the positive role plants can play in supporting their active pursuit of wellness and improved quality of life, many don’t know how to incorporate them into their daily lives, especially in the winter. Through our social impact platform Plant Positivity, Aphria is bridging the gap by providing education, increasing access to plants and driving meaningful impact in the communities we serve.”
Plant Positivity has garnered a lot of support since it was first launched, and continues to expand to augment its purpose. Understanding the important role plants give to individual physical and emotional health, Aphria is raising the bar on corporate social responsibility with the platform and has, once again, shown its desire to be a world leader in community stewardship.
