Liberty Health Sciences’ dispensary hosts cannabis lecture

The Vagina Cannalounges travel lecture series makes a stop at a Liberty Health Sciences store

The cannabis industry is moving forward and continues to evolve. While this happens, some of the demographics tend to be left behind. A Liberty Health Sciences (CNQ: LHS) dispensary located in Miami is about to host this upcoming weekend, providing a night of networking and speaker panel focused on women. The Vagina Cannalouges is a traveling cannabis lecture series and the creators of this initiative are hoping to bring a sense of community to Miami, focusing on the women who have been overlooked by other cannabis events.

“We thought it would be amazing to have an event by women for women because there aren’t a lot of events geared toward women and the LGBT community,” says event planner Angie Willoughby, who hosts the Green Baker Podcast. During the speaker’s panel, several participants will be sharing personal experiences with cannabis, including current stigmas that women still face for using cannabis either for medicinal or recreational purposes. “We want them to see that it’s not just about business or being able to get high, but it’s really about, as women, educating ourselves and how this plant can make such a wonderful difference,” Willoughby adds.

The event will be moderated by Stacia Smith of Liberty Health Sciences and it will also have some other important names in the industry. Dr. Michelle Weiner, chair of the Florida Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee; Josie Matos of the Winter Park Pain Management Center and April Rodriguez, head of the cannabis division at the Keyes Company, are just a few that will be present. Even though there is no cost for attending this lecture, donations are well received. All the funds raised will be going to the Miami Rescue Mission’s Center for Women and Children. The event will take place this Saturday, February 29, from 6 to 8:30 PM at Liberty Health Sciences, 6827 Bird Rd., Miami.
