TerrAscend Corp., a major North American cannabis operator, announced today the appointment of Ira Duarte to its Board of Directors. Duarte will also be the Chair of Audit Committee of the Board.
Duarte, who enters the new roles immediately, has more than 25 years’ experience as a senior financial professional in various leadership positions in finance, accounting and auditing. Currently, she is the CFO for Veloxis Pharmaceuticals Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company that focuses on the development and commercialization worldwide of medicines used by patients undergoing organ transplants.
Before joining Veloxis, Duarte was Senior Director of Corporate Finance at Chiesi USA, Inc., and Director of Accounting & Financial Planning at Cornerstone Therapeutics, Inc. She was part of the core team that facilitated the sale of Cornerstone Therapeutics, Inc., to Chiesi Farmaceutici S.p.A.
Duarte previously held a variety of roles, including Senior Manager to Staff at Ernst & Young Global Limited. In this role, she was responsible managing audits, Securities Exchange Commission filings as well as initial public offerings for clients. Duarte, a Certified Public Accounting Professional, holds a BSc in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University.
TerrAscend has also announced that subsidiary Gage Cannabis Co. opened a new flagship marijuana provisioning center in Jackson, MI. Gage will run the dispensary, which is located at 118 North Columbus Street. Cookies, a lifestyle and cannabis brand, will also operate it.
Cookies Jackson will stock the entire Cookies family, including the Lemonnade, Runtz and Minntz lines. Gage has also set aside significant shelf space at Gage’s Gage locations, including the new Cookies provisioning facility.
Cookies Jackson will celebrate the grand opening by offering special giveaways, a DJ, food trucks, vendors, live DJ, and more from 10:00 to 5:00 today. Cookies Jackson will remain open from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM seven days a week.
