Leading North American cannabis operator TerrAscend Corp. recently announced the appointment of Ziad Ghanem as president and COO effective immediately. Ghanem will undoubtedly become a key player in the development of the company, especially as he has nearly two decades of experience in cannabis, large-scale healthcare services, pharmacy, and retail operations at TerrAscend, where he will oversee and manage all operations.
Over the past few years, many companies in the marijuana industry have been changing and giving significant attention to their leadership teams. It seems to be an effort by the companies to always stay on top of what is happening in the environment through the expertise and experience of people capable of achieving that goal.
In this case, Ghanem’s experience and knowledge of the cannabis industry, combined with his incredible track record in the pharmaceutical and healthcare fields, is a rare find and makes him the ideal person for this position.
TerrAscend CEO Jason Wild says Ghanem has a proven track record of success in business optimization, leadership development and financial management. This makes him an essential asset to the company as it continues to execute its growth strategy.
Ghanem added, “TerrAscend is building one of the most robust operating footprints in the highest quality cannabis markets in the country. I am thrilled to join this team and help deliver value for TerrAscend’s patients, consumers, and shareholders.”
For the past several years, Ghanem served as president of all markets at Parallel, known for being one of the most dominant private vertically integrated multi-state cannabis operators in the US market. Prior to diving into the growing cannabis industry, Ghanem had spent more than 15 years in leadership roles at Walgreens Boots Alliance. With respect to his educational background, Ghanem received a Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Houston, making him a perfect candidate in medical-related areas.
