Cannabis operator TerrAscend received some welcome news yesterday. After going through the process of applying for access to New Jersey’s cannabis market, it received its final permit yesterday from the state’s Department of Health. As a result, TerrAscend is now launching sales in its first The Apothecarium dispensary in the state, located in downtown Phillipsburg.
The dispensary opened its doors for the first time yesterday, accepting customers by appointment only in accordance with COVID-19 health policies. The store will hold a grand opening on November 30, and will provide a full-service medical cannabis dispensary with education resources, private consultation rooms, trained staff and more.
TerrAscend CEO Jason Ackerman says of the latest addition to the company’s chain of stores, “I’m thrilled to open the first of our three Apothecarium retail dispensaries in New Jersey and look forward to providing medical cannabis patients with access to the essential medicine they need. I’m proud of our team for their efforts in achieving this milestone and look forward to providing outstanding care and service to support the health and well-being of New Jersey residents.”
There are plans to ultimately have a total of three dispensaries in the state, most likely in the northern region. They will add to TerrAscend’s existing New Jersey footprint, which includes a cultivation and manufacturing facility in Boonton. The other two stores are scheduled to open next year as soon as the company receives the necessary permits.
Adds TerrAscend Northeast CEO Greg Rochlin, “With production at our Boonton cultivation and manufacturing facility scaling up, we have assembled a comprehensive portfolio of high-quality cannabis products and brands to serve this rapidly growing market. As with all of our Apothecarium dispensaries, we are committed to providing patients with quality medical cannabis in a welcoming environment with empathy, education, and ongoing personal support.”
